Slow / No Wi-Fi Connection

If you're experiencing slow/no Wi-Fi connections, here's some methods you could try before raising a ticket:

1. "Have you tried turning it off and on?" - this could be the Wi-Fi as well as restarting your laptop.

2. Forget/remove the Wi-Fi and try to connect again (ask Business Support/IT  for the Wi-Fi Password)

3. Move around in the office to see if you gain faster internet speed - use https://fast.com to check Wi-Fi speed

4. If your internet speed is above 50 MBps but a specific website is slow (e.g. LinkedIn) then the issue is with the website itself rather than the Wi-Fi. Some website have rate limits, they limit the number of requests you send (e.g. sending too many connection requests to LinkedIn profiles within a period of time, the website will think your an automated bot and temporary block you.)



Use Wireless Diagnostics on your Mac

  1. On your Mac, quit all open apps.

  2. Try to join the Wi-Fi network you’re having problems with (if you’re not already connected).

  3. Press and hold the Option key, click the Wi-Fi status icon  in the menu bar, then choose Open Wireless Diagnostics.

  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to analyse your network connection.
